Chip has returned!
The grime/rap legend made an appearance last week on Devlin’s latest single, “Don’t Try It”, before treating lucky punters to Rinse FM’s i Love Grime at Ministry Of Sound, to a triumphant barring sesh alongside a who’s who of grime icons. This week, he addressed his fans via Instagram about his absence, and announced the imminent arrivals of new music.
The video below claims that Chip is working on a new album, but before then, he has released the video of its lead single “Tekky”. It features Crept Frisco, and K-Trap each representing a distinct era and style. Carly Cussen, the legendary music video director, keeps the video simple: four MCs each with their own sharp, punchy flow to match the drum-heavy, pounding beat by SplurgeBoys.
Chip said about the track: “It feels good to be here after a two-year hiatus. Krept Fris Trapo, you guys are the best! This song is amazing. It’s a surprise to me that we’re all on the same track. That’s why it’s so good. I wanted to create a line-up of artists that merged different styles, sounds and bars from various eras. Tekky!”
