The final season of The Flash has just five episodes remaining. While the show will take a break after this week’s “Partners in Time” episode, the next one is going to be a big one. The Arrowverse is welcoming back familiar faces in “It’s My Party, and I’ll die if I want to.” Stephen Smell, who plays Oliver Queen a.k.a. Green Arrow hasn’t appeared on television since Arrow ended in 2020. We finally know the reason why Oliver is returning to The Flash.
The trailer for “It’s My Party, and I’ll die if I want to” was shared by TVLine. The surprise party for Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen is attended by David Ramsey’s John Diggle, Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West and Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West. The latter hasn’t appeared in The Flashsince Season 6. Diggle presents Oliver Queen’s bow to Barry as a gift, but the celebration is quickly brought to an end when attendees begin falling unconscious.
Sendhil Ramamurthy, also known as Ramsay Rosso or simply Ramsay Rosso is the person who’s responsible for all of this. Bloodwork was the main villain in the first half The Flash season 6 and , which we knew would return for Season 9. Bloodwork is at the party to reveal that he knows that Oliver Queen, as The Spectre in “Crisis on Infinite Earths”, created a new multiverse. He has a plan in place that threatens these other realities. Barry and Oliver will have to work together to stop Bloodwork. This trailer confirms that it is not a previous version, or a doppelganger on another Earth.
Oliver Queen and Barry Allen reunited on Lian Yu – a place dear to Oliver Queen (although I suspect that this is just a simulation and not the real island) – and now they will have to work together to stop Bloodwork who has once again used his creepy powers to possess people, even some of Barry Allen’s friends. It’s not clear what Bloodwork wants to achieve in “It’s My Party, and I’ll die If I Want To,” but it’s related to his larger goal of eliminating death from everyday life. Oliver is forced to get personally involved this time because his actions are affecting the entire multiverse.
Stephen Amell revealed that he did not need to listen to Greg Berlanti’s pitch to bring Oliver Queen back as he already agreed to it. Amell revealed that he had a request for. We don’t yet know what that was. Hopefully he will reveal it after the episode airs. Amell posted a photo from behind the scenes of him and Grant Gustin at the beginning of the month. Since this is likely the last time that these two characters will be paired in the Arrowverse together, we should expect to see a lot of emotion.
