The late Bruce Paltrow and his wife, Blythe Daner, both died of cancer in 2002.
Danner told people that “everyone has been touched by cancer, but it is rare for two individuals to share the same disease.” “I remembered I looked at heaven and asked Bruce: ‘Are You Lonely Up There?’ She added. It’s an elusive disease. Now I am fine. “I’m fortunate to still be here.”
Danner revealed that in March 2018, she had been diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma. This is a rare type of cancer in the mouth that occurs in the glands that produce saliva. In London, she was “feeling very woozy” and was losing her memory. Then I noticed a lump on my neck right where Bruce found it.
Paltrow had the same diagnosis in 1999. In 2002, he died while in Italy celebrating his daughter Gwyneth Palton’s birthday.
She didn’t tell her son Jake Paltrow or other children because “she didn’t wanted them to be worried.”
Gwyneth remembered that she was “obviously very shocked” when she finally learned the truth. It was frightening. It was a little eerie, because the situation [was] so similar to my father’s.
Danner had two surgeries in the early stages of her cancer. After exploring other treatments, a third operation was performed by 2020, which removed all cancerous tissues.
Danner appeared on the screen in Starz’s American Gods as Demeter. In the Netflix animated series Ridley Jones, she voices Grandma Jones.
