Julia Hart’s I’m Your Woman is the movie of the year with the most terrible title.Β It’s hard to imagine why anyone would release this cool B-movie starring Rachel Brosnahan (aka Mrs. Maisel) under such a title.Β What can we do then?
We don’t need to take you to the movie theatre because “I’m Your Woman”, which is available on Amazon Prime.Β Amazon Prime is available to everyone who gives a gift.Β Brosnahan won’t be relegated to the history books as Midge, even though we love and adore her.Β She is an actress who has a bright future.
I’m Your Woman is like a noir film, and it reminds me of John Dahl’s “Red Rock West” or “The Last Seduction”. It’s pulp fiction at its best, which I can watch for hours.
Brosnahan may be clueless Jean or she might have some clues but it takes time to work out.Β She is aware that Eddie, her spouse, has a criminal past.Β She is given a baby without explanation and told it was hers.Β Harry is the name she gives to her new baby.Β Two minutes later, she and Eddie have been separated.Β He has crossed someone within an organization.Β Cal (the superb Arinze Kennee) arrives to pick up Harry and her, and to move them somewhere safer in Pittsburgh.Β The soundtrack confirms that this all takes place in Pittsburgh during the 1970s.
Harry and Jean move to the house of safety only to discover that it is not as safe.Β Eddie is hiding a few secrets, including the fact that he once was married to Calβs current wife Teri (also Marsha Stephanie Blake).Β Also, she meets Paul and Art’s grandfather played by Frankie Faison.Β Jean is in a desperate situation to stop Eddie’s enemies.Β Jean has proven to be a quick learner and a quick student. We’re glad to ride along for the journey.
Julia Hart, the daughter of renowned screenwriter James V. Hart (Bram Stokerβs Dracula), is married to Jordan Horowitz.Β You can tell that movies are in her veins, as you’ll see in the characters of “I’m Your Woman”. Her characters have a slick and savvy quality.Β They’re well-dressed, too. But that’s the suspense.Β The film is always moving and doesn’t look back.Β This film is not hyped up at all and it deserves to be.
