If there is anything Nicole Kidman enjoys, it’s delivering a memorable phrase, strolling down the theater aisle in a suit, or supporting charities close to her heart.
She got the chance to accomplish all three on Saturday at a charity event benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, where she won a hat from Hugh Jackman called The Music Man.
The hat is being auctioned off by Jackman ‘s Music Man actor Nicholas Ward in a video clip posted on Twitter. They seem to have reached around $19,000. A familiar Aussie voice, which seemed to come out of nowhere, then bid “one hundred… thousand.”
The next thing you know an Oscar winner in pantsuit walks down the aisle and everyone freaks because it is Nicole Kidman. Kidman embraces a stunned Jackman who assures the audience it is not “Australian Dollars.”
Kidman added that The Music Man is “extraordinary.” Jackman gives her his cap, which she then tips in the direction of Jackman.
Jackman told Kidman that he has known her for nearly 30 years. “I have worked with Nic, and I can assure you, this is no surprise.” She’s one of my most generous friends. You are a lovely, wonderful person. Thank you for your generosity.”
Jackman shared this moment via Instagram. He wrote, “The generosity of Nicole Kidman and her love for me leaves me speechless.” “Thank you Nic, for your friendship and help!”
Kidman continued the mutual admiration when she commented on Kidman’s post, “Darling Hugh to my friend for 30 years.” It was an amazing night at the theater and a great honor to give to BCEFA. “Congratulations to the talented actors.”
Broadway Cares announced the Kidman donation in to People. They called it the “largest donation ever for an auction item.” This Thanksgiving, there is much to be thankful for!
